Ancient Double Diamond Eye-In-Eye, Wave, Tiger Tooth, & Star Motif Carnelian Dzi with Bloodspot

This bead is adorned with the Double Diamond Eye-In-Eye, Wave, Tiger Tooth, & Star Motif. The Diamond Eye is the precursor to the more modern Eye Motif. The Eye-In-Eye Motif is believed to bless its wearer with clear vision and unparalleled wisdom. The Wave Motif is believed to bring never-ending success to its wearer. The Tiger Tooth Motif is believed to bring strength and courage. The Star Motif is believed to bring wisdom and a bright future, further boosting the powers of the Eye-In-Eye.

This bead measures 21.9 mm x 15.1 mm x 8.6 mm. It is an old bead, estimated to be between 500 to 1000 years old.

The bead material is high quality natural carnelian. There are natural cinnabar inclusions in the carnelian.

There is a visible crack line. However, structural integrity is not compromised. As with all antique items, imperfections are all part of its beauty.

Bloodspot (Cinnabar Dot) info:

Cinnabar dots are also known as "bloodspots" or "硃砂" in Chinese. They occur when mercury and sulfur are present when the agate was formed. Mercuric sulfide (or cinnabar) is obtained when mercury reacts with sulfur. In its purest form, the color is a deep red. In fact, it is how vermilion pigment is made. However, it is difficult and rare to find it in its purest form in agate. The purest form, used to make vermillion, is usually obtained in labs where conditions can be controlled. In nature, there is usually other material present thus giving it slight variations in its redness.
